Three Ingredient Chocolate Pie- Recipes My Mom Gave Me

No bake pies aren't just for summer.  They are great all year round! Especially, pies that only need three ingredients and can be served within an hour of making. 🖒

Your Three Ingredients

  • Pie crust
  • Chocolate chips
  • Whipped topping

What Kind of Pie Crust Should I Use?

Pictured is a Chocolate Cookie Crust pre-made pie crust. However, this pie will work with a graham cracker crust ( regular or gluten free), an Oreo cookie crust, a shortbread cookie crust, a walnut/pecan crust....the list is endless.  Just stick with a no bake crumb crust and you will be good to go!

What About Whipped Topping?

AKA "Cool Whip". Use any variety ( low fat/fat free/vegan) and brand.  Just be sure it's thawed before you use it.

Chocolate Chips?

I used a milk chocolate variety.  You can go with semi sweet or dark chocolate too.  Whichever you prefer!

Three Ingredient Chocolate Pie

Prep: 20 mins Total Time: 3 hrs 20 mins Yield: 8 servings

A rich, velvety chocolate pie that requires absolutely no baking! With just three simple components, you can whip up a spectacular, crowd-pleasing dessert that sets up beautifully in the fridge.

Ingredients

  • 11.5 oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 2 cups)
  • 8 oz tub whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed and divided
  • 1 ready-made graham cracker or chocolate cookie pie crust (9-inch)

Instructions

  1. Melt the Chocolate: Pour the chocolate chips into a medium, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each session, until the chocolate is completely melted and silk smooth. Let it sit on the counter for 5 minutes to cool down slightly so it doesn't deflate the cream.
  2. Fold the Filling: Gently fold the thawed whipped topping into the cooled, melted chocolate using a rubber spatula. Mix slowly until the streaks disappear and a uniform, fluffy chocolate mousse forms.
  3. Assemble the Pie: Spoon the chocolate filling directly into the prepared ready-made pie crust. Use your spatula or the back of a spoon to smooth the mixture evenly all the way to the edges.
  4. Chill and Set: Cover the pie loosely and place it into the refrigerator for at least 3 hours before serving. This giving it ample time to chill thoroughly and set up firm enough for perfect, clean slices. Keep stored in the refrigerator.
