Cracker Toffee- Easy homemade candy that is soooo crazy addicting you will want to make it over and over again. All you need is 4 basic ingredients to satisfy your sweet tooth!
This recipe is not only a great dessert for your next holiday gathering, it's a great option to give as a homemade gift this season. It's really simple to make and yes, it's really addicting. Hence, the name of it. ;)
Yes. Any brand will work. Just stick with the "regular" version of the crackers and they will work. You will need about 35 to 40 crackers.
Can I Use Another Type of Cracker?
Yes. I have also made this with Ritz Crackers (or brand equivalent) and it's worked great.
Toppings
I tossed a few sprinkles on ours for the festive touch. But, coarse salt, chopped nuts or mini chocolate chips are great options. Just be sure your sprinkle your toppings before the chocolate sets.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a large, flat rimmed baking sheet with foil. Spray the foil with non stick cooking spray.
Lay crackers evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Do this in a single layer and cover the whole pan.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Once it's fully melted, increase the heat just slightly and bring to a boil. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes or until it becomes slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let it sit for just 5 minutes.
When you are ready, carefully pour the brown sugar/butter mixture on top of the crackers. Spread it evenly to cover all the crackers.
Bake in the oven for 7-10 minutes or until it becomes bubbly. Remove it from the oven and sprinkle the top with chocolate chips. Let them sit for a minute or two to get soft, then spread the chocolate evenly on top.
Refrigerate for at least an hour to set. Then, once it's set, break it apart into pieces for serving.
Keep any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator.
It's that time of the year for Christmas crack - yum Visiting via Inspire me Monday. My entries this week #12-14 Please do share with SSPS & HIH https://esmesalon.com/tag/seniorsalonpitstop/
This is one of our family's favorite sweet treats! Through the years we have experimented with different variations; using graham crackers, using different type of chips, adding peanut butter into the butter/sugar mixture, etc. So far we have loved them all.
