Three Ingredient Soda Cake- The simplest and most versatile cake you will ever make.
This cake not only tastes delicious, it's versatile. Really ,incredibly, versatile. I came across the recipe about a million years ago and still make it on a regular basis.
Just Three Ingredients
- Cake mix
- Soda
- Eggs
Will This Work With Any Flavor Cake Mix?
Yes. I've made chocolate, yellow, white, strawberry and more. They all work. Just be sure you use a standard size box of cake mix ( 15-18 oz) for this to work.
What About Soda?
Again, any carbonated beverage will work. I have used cola, root beer and lemon lime. Again, they all worked, I have even used diet soda!
Eggs
Want to cut back a bit? Use 4 egg whites instead of 4 whole eggs. Yes, that will work too.
Cake Variety Ideas
- Yellow cake with lemon lime soda (baked in a 9 x 13 baking pan-pictured)
- Chocolate cake with cola
- Chocolate cake with root beer
- White cake with diet soda

- 1 standard box dry cake mix
- 10 oz soda
- 4 eggs
Instructions
- Prep the Pan & Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (or follow the temperature listed on your specific cake mix box). Spray your desired baking pan with non-stick cooking spray, or line a cupcake pan with paper liners if making cupcakes.
- Mix the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the dry cake mix, eggs, and soda. Beat the mixture thoroughly for 2 minutes. Pour and evenly spread the batter into your prepared pan.
- Bake & Cool: Bake according to the time instructions provided on your cake mix box. If you plan to frost the cake, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool completely beforehand.
