Slow Cooker Chocolate Frosting Spoon Cake-Because, it's too hot to bake in your oven and you need chocolate cake.
Today, it's about 90 degrees in Michigan. Of course, it feels like it's over 100. But still, I made cake. This cake. In my slow cooker!
It's crazy easy and tastes delicious. I'm not kidding when I tell you that eating just one serving of it is impossible.
Ingredients Needed
- Cake mix
- Instant pudding mix
- Eggs
- Vanilla
- Water
- Butter
- Frosting
Recipe Notes
- Cooking time is based on my slow cooker, which is a 6 quart. Depending on the size and brand of your slow cooker, you may need to cook it longer or shorter. When it's done, the middle of the cake will be set.
- You can use any brand of cake mix. It simply needs to be a standard size box. 15-18 oz will do the trick.
- The same goes for the frosting. Grab any brand of pre-made chocolate frosting container and use that. You won't need the entire container. Only 1 1/4 cups of it.
- Be sure you don't mix the frosting completely into the cake batter. Only fold it.
- Do not make the instant pudding. You will only need the dry mix.
- Storage: Keep any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator. It's best eaten within a week.
Spoon Cake?
Yep! It's a cake that you scoop out of the slow cooker with a spoon and eat it with a spoon too. 🥄
