Slow Cooker Hoisin Chicken- Flavorful chicken that only needs a small list of basic ingredients! It's cooked right in your slow cooker/crock pot and pairs perfectly with rice or noodles.
My mom never cooked in a slow cooker when I was a kid. I discovered the joys of slow cooking when I started blogging back in 2011.
This chicken recipe is a favorite around my house. It's full of flavor and crazy easy to make. Put everything in the cooker and cook.
Easy peasy!
Ingredients Needed
- Chicken
- Soy sauce
- Hoisin sauce
- Brown sugar
- Garlic + Ginger + Salt/Pepper
- Additional Product I Used:
- Sesame Seeds
What Is Hoisin Sauce?
- It is a thick sauce that is primarily used in Asian dishes. It has a dark color and tastes both sweet and salty.
- You can use it for a sauce (like this recipe), but, you can also use it for a glaze or dipping sauce. It can be found in the Asian food section of your grocery store. If you can't locate it, see the recipe card for purchase.
- Depending on the brand, you may also find a low sodium version.
- If you wish to make it homemade, you can do that too!
Recipe Notes
- Chicken: Yes, you can use frozen chicken breasts. This can be a tricky topic online, but, I have never had any issues doing it. I simply cook the chicken slightly longer.
- Chicken Thighs: If you wish, you can use chicken thighs instead. Depending on the size, you may need to cook a little longer.
- Cooking Time: Not all slow cookers are the same. A safe internal temperature for your chicken breasts should be at least 165 degrees (F) when fully cooked.
