Baked Hot Cocoa Donuts-Make homemade donuts in your kitchen and skip the bakery! These chocolate donuts are baked (not fried!), filled with hot cocoa mix and topped with a shiny chocolate glaze.
Guys, once you make homemade donuts, you will not worry about the bakery again! These are so good and when you get your donut pan, the flavor combinations are endless.

Ingredients Needed
- Flour + Salt + Baking powder
- Butter
- Sugar
- Hot cocoa mix
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Milk
- Eggs
- Chocolate chips
Recipe Notes
- This recipe makes 12 donuts. If you use the 6 count pan, you will have to do 2 batches.
- Hot Cocoa Mix: You will need just 1/4 of a cup of dry hot cocoa mix. Use your favorite brand/flavor or you can make it homemade.
- Don't over mix your donut batter. This can give you a dense donut.
- Store any leftovers in a covered container. You don't need to refrigerate them, unless it's really warm/humid in your area.
- If you are topping with sprinkles ( or anything besides the glaze), do this before the glaze sets.
- 2 cups flour
- dash of salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup hot cocoa mix powder
- 2 TBSP butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- FOR GLAZE:
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips
- 2 TBSP butter
- 2-3 TBSP milk
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Grease a regular size donut pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, cocoa powder, sugar and hot cocoa mix.
- Then, add in melted butter, milk and eggs. Mix to combine. Don't over mix your batter.
- Divide the batter evenly into prepared donut pan.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes or until the tops spring back when touched.
- Let them cool completely before adding glaze.
- Make Glaze: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt chocolate chips and butter until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of milk. If the glaze seems too thick, add another tablespoon of milk. Stir until smooth. Drizzle tops of donuts with the glaze of dunk tops of the donuts into glaze to coat.
