Cheese Fondue-Have yourself a serving of this cheesy fondue pronto! Dip in crusty bread, apples or cold veggies. Pick your favorite cheeses and make it your own.
Years ago, my sister and I used to dine at a fondue restaurant, The Melting Pot. It was delicious, but, golly, it was expensive. So, I started making a cheese fondue at home, to make my life and wallet a bit happier.
This bowl of cheesy goodness will be perfect for your next party or serve it for a fun dinner! It's quick to toss together and will be an instant hit each time you serve it. 🧀
Ingredients Needed
- Cheese
- Flour
- Chicken broth
- Nutmeg
Can I Use Any Flavor Cheese?
- Yes, sorta. It is best to use cheese that melts really well. For example, Gruyere, Swiss, etc. I like to use a combination of cheddar and Swiss. But, it's totally up to you! You will need 4 cups total. So, mix it up anyway you wish.
- 💡 It is best to shred your own cheese, if you are able. It is better for melting.
Recipe Notes and Tips
- Chicken Broth: If you don't wish to use chicken broth, apple juice, beer (alcoholic or non- alcoholic) or a dry white wine are really good options too.
- Flour: You can use cornstarch as a replacement, if desired or needed.
- For best cheesy results, melt your cheese(s) over low heat.
- You don't need a fondue pot to make this! Heat in a saucepan (low heat!) and keep it warm on the stove or transfer to your slow cooker.
- When reheating, add to your fondue pot or saucepan. Again, over low heat, melt the cheese until smooth, adding a smidgen more chicken broth to thin out.
