Dulce de Leche Crispy Rice Bars- The classic crispy rice bars with a twist. Creamy dulce de leche is sandwiched between two layers of gooey cinnamon flavored cereal bars. Great for fall!
Ingredients Needed
- Crispy rice cereal
- Butter
- Mini marshmallows
- Vanilla
- Ground cinnamon
- Dulce de leche
What is Dulce de Leche?
- Caramelized milk. It's very thick and can be found in the baking section or the Hispanic food section of your grocery store. It's dreamy. Can't find it in your local store? Check out the recipe card for a link to purchase or make it homemade.
- 💡 Tip: If your Dulce de Leche is too thick to spread, remove it from the can and put in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave it for approx. 15-20 seconds to heat, remove and give it a stir. This will make it easier to spread.
Recipe Notes + More Tips
- Crispy Rice Cereal: AKA "Rice Krispies". You can use Rice Krispies brand or any brand equivalent. Also, if you can find a cinnamon flavored crispy rice cereal, you can use that too. Simply omit the ground cinnamon from the recipe.
- When spreading the prepared marshmallow mixture into the pan, use this method. When adding the top layer, don't fret if it's not perfectly inline with the Dulce de Leche. If it pokes out a bit, that's OK.
- Storage: Keep any leftovers in a covered container. It's best if they are stored in the refrigerator and best eaten within a week.
This is always a great treat, especially love the crunch of the crispy rice.
