Homemade Chocolate Syrup- No need for the bottled stuff. Make it homemade.
Ingredients Needed
- Water
- Sugar
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Salt
- Vanilla
Recipe Notes
- Storage: Keep any leftovers in a covered container/jar. It's best eaten within 2 weeks.
- Freezing? Yes, this can be frozen. Make it and let it cool completely. Then, freeze in a freezer safe/covered jar or storage container. Leave about an inch of space in the jar/container to make room for expansion.

Homemade Chocolate Syrup
No need for the bottled stuff. Make it homemade.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- dash of salt
- splash of vanilla
Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk together water, sugar, salt, and cocoa powder.
- Over low to medium heat, whisking constantly, let the mixture come to a boil.
- Once it starts to boil, let it boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Let it cool for 15 minutes.
- It can be served warm, if desired. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
- Keep leftover syrup in a covered container/jar in the refrigerator.
