Brown Sugar Carrots-Flavorful carrots that only need just a few ingredients. They are great for a weeknight dinner or your next holiday gathering!
Ingredients Needed:
- Carrots
- Brown sugar
- Butter
- Water
- Dried parsley, optional
Recipe Notes:
- Carrots: I use a 1 pound bag of pre-cut and pre-washed baby carrots. It just makes life a bit easier. However, you can use whatever type of carrots you wish. Just keep them about the same size (coins will also work) if you are cutting them yourself. You will need about 3 cups.
- Storage: Keep any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator. They are best eaten within a week.
Serve Them With:
Brown Sugar Carrots
Tender baby carrots coated in a sweet, buttery brown sugar glaze. This quick and effortless side dish comes together in minutes, making it the perfect sweet addition to weeknight dinners or holiday spreads!
Ingredients
- 1 lb baby carrots
- 4 TBSP butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- Optional: A pinch of salt and a dash of cinnamon
Instructions
- Cook the Carrots: Place the baby carrots in a medium saucepan and add just enough water to cover them. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat slightly and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the carrots are fork-tender. Drain well and return the carrots to the pan.
- Add Glaze Ingredients: Turn the heat down to low. Add the butter, packed brown sugar, and a pinch of salt or cinnamon (if using) directly to the warm carrots.
- Glaze and Coat: Stir gently but continuously for 2 to 3 minutes until the butter and sugar melt completely, combining into a smooth, glossy syrup that wraps around the carrots.
- Serve: Transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish, pouring any remaining warm brown sugar syrup from the pan over the top. Serve immediately!
