Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies-The best chocolate chip cookie recipe around! Soft cookies packed full of chocolate chips and made with browned butter for extra flavor. You won't be able to eat just one!
This is my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe. It makes about 4 dozen cookies, but, no worries! They won't last long in your house, because, they are delicious and it's nearly impossible eat just one of them.
Ingredients Needed
- Flour
- Salt
- White sugar
- Brown sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla
- Butter
- Chocolate chips
What is Browned Butter & Can I Use Margarine Instead?
- Browned butter is the process of melting the butter until there is no longer any water. The milk from the butter is the only thing left and by cooking it, it will toast that milk and give it a really nutty flavor. It's delicious.
- No, you cannot use margarine or anything that is not milk based. Using margarine or an oil/plant based margarine/butter substitute will burn.
- When you are browning your butter, keep a close eye on it and stir frequently. It should take about 8-10 minutes for it to brown.
Recipe Notes
- If you really don't want 4 dozen cookies, this recipe can easily be cut in half.
- Refrigerating Your Dough: Don't skip this step or you may have your cookies spread out on your baking sheet. Refrigerate the dough for at least 2 hours or if needed, you can refrigerate longer.
- Storage: Keep any leftovers in a covered container. No need to refrigerate, unless it's hot/humid in your area.
- Freezing: If you want to freeze your cookies, you can. Make them as noted in the recipe and let them cool completely. Then, freeze in a freezer safe/covered container or storage bag.
