My mama LOVED stuffed peppers. Me? I wasn't a fan. Just digging into the whole pepper was a bit daunting for me, as a not-so-much-lover on green peppers.
This dish has all the ingredients of stuffed peppers, but, in skillet form! Plus, your whole dinner is cooked up in one big pan. My favorite way to make dinner!
Ingredients Needed
- Ground turkey or beef
- Cooked rice
- Green peppers
- Tomato sauce
- Brown sugar
- Worcestershire sauce
- Minced onion + Garlic powder
- Dijon mustard
Recipe Notes
- You must use cooked rice for this dish. It can be white rice, brown rice or cauliflower rice. You can also use a combination of them. To cut back on cooking time, use any plain, leftover rice you may have in your refrigerator. You can also use a microwave version.
- No tomato sauce on hand? Honestly, I have used spaghetti sauce for this and it works great!
- Peppers can be green, yellow, orange or red. Like the rice, you can use a combination of them too.
- Keep any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator. It's best eaten within a week.
💡Tip
This recipe can easily be cut in half to feed only 2-3 people. Make it as directed with the exception of adding the cheese. Let it cool completely. Place 1/2 of the dish in a freezer safe, covered container and store in the freezer until you are ready to eat. The other 1/2 of the dish can be frozen too or continue with melting the cheese to serve.
