Apple Dump Cake with Fresh Apples-Happy Apple Season! Let's celebrate with an easy cake with sweet apples on the bottom and a buttery cake on top. Serve it with vanilla ice cream for the perfect fall dessert.
My mom made this cake every fall and I have continued that tradition. Sometimes, I make it with canned apples, sometimes, fresh. It kinda just depends on what's in the refrigerator.
It's so good! Serve it with vanilla ice cream or a dollop or whipped cream for the perfect finishing touch.
Ingredients Needed:
- Cake mix
- Butter + Water
- Apples
- Ground cinnamon + Lemon juice
- Brown sugar
Why is This Called a "Dump Cake"?
You literally just dump everything into your pan and bake! Not a pretty name, but, it gets the point across. Important to Note: Don't mix anything, once it's in your pan!
Can I Use Canned Apples?
Yep! If desired, replace your fresh apples with 2-21 oz cans of apple pie filling. Baking time will be the same as noted below.
What Kind of Apples Will Work?
Well, any kind of apples will work. However, Granny Smith, Fuji and Honeycrisp will probably give you a sweeter flavor. You can also use a combination of apple types, if you wish.
Storage: Keep any leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator. It's best eaten within a week.
