French Toast with Cream Cheese Filling
Ingredients
- 8 slices, thick bread
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup, whole milk or whipping cream
- 1 TBSP vanilla
- butter, for skillet
- 8 oz, whipped cream cheese, softened
- 2 TBSP powdered sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon and vanilla until fully combined. Set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla and ground cinnamon.
- Spread a slice of bread with the cream cheese filling. Top with another slice of bread. Continue with the remaining slices of bread.
- Over medium heat, melt about a tablespoon of butter in a skillet. Dip an entire cream cheese sandwich into the egg mixture. Coat it well and gently shake off any excess.
- Add the coated sandwich in the skillet. Cook on for about 1-2 minutes, then, flip it over and cook the other side for the same amount of time. You want both sides to be browned. Continue with remaining sandwiches.
- Serve immediately with a butter, fruit or powdered sugar.
