Homemade French Fries- The world's best side dish made right in your kitchen! Cook these fresh, crispy fries in just about 15 minutes. No soaking time needed.
I always loved when my Mom (or Dad) made homemade French fries for dinner. They were always cooked perfectly and tasted delicious dunked in a side of ketchup.
These fries are quick to make and you do not have to worry about soaking beforehand. Just cut, slice and cook.
Ingredients Needed
- Russet potatoes
- Oil
- Salt
Recipe Notes:
- Peeling the Potatoes: This is your own personal preference. Personally, I don't. It's quicker to avoid that step. But, if you wish, go ahead and peel the potatoes!
- Try and cut your french fries into about the same size pieces. This will help cook the fries evenly.
- Oil: Canola, sunflower or peanut oil will all work fine. I would avoid using Olive oil.
- Salt: We like salty fries! However, whether it's a taste or diet preference, obviously, you can skip the step. You can also opt to sprinkle them with other seasons. For example, season salt, garlic or onion salt or grated Parmesan cheese. Whatever you choose to season them with, do it immediately. This will help the season adhere to the fries.
- Cooking Time: I found that skinnier pieces will take about 10 minutes. But, if your pieces are thicker, it could take about 15 minutes for cooking. They are done when they are dark brown in color.
